In yesterday’s post, we discussed how you can improve your computer’s performance by making space in the local disk. When the temporary memory, RAM is insufficient in a computer, the disk’s extra space is used as buffer for the computer’s activities. Thus, it helps to keep clearing up the space in your local disk.

Computer repair and maintenance is not about resolving a current problem but foreseeing potential problems and taking precautions. Today, we will discuss how we can make space in the computer by deleting temporary files.

Deletion of temporary files: Temporary files are typically backup files created by programs running on your computer. As the term suggests, temporary files keep information temporarily that helps recover data if an application is closed improperly.

The steps below will tell you how to delete temporary files stored on your computer.
1. Click the Start button.
2. Click the Run option.
3. Type ‘%temp%’ in the dialog box.
4. Click the OK button. The folder called Temp will open.
5. Select all the files in the Temp folder.
6. Press the Delete key.
7. Click the Yes button.

A few files in the Temp folder is not a cause for concern. However, you should not have too much stored there.
